Description

The ideal candidate should be in the Twin Cities Metro area with the ability to work onsite as needed at the Bloomington Q-Central office.  Remote work may be an option for candidates in Pennsylvania, Colorado, Nevada, and outside the Twin Cities Metro area in Minnesota. Please note, relocation assistance is not provided.

As an Industrial Designer II, you will help us deliver exceptional products for our proprietary brand, Salsa. You will have a proven track record of managing products from research to concept to final design.

You will work together with our multi-disciplinary product development team to advance innovative concepts and provide design direction for our house of brands. You will be responsible for coordinating rider research, concept generation, prototyping and refinement. As an Industrial Designer II, you will have a strong control of aesthetics, problem solving, visual communication and integrate effectively into a multi-functional team culture.

This position will have the following responsibilities:

-Follow the QBP Product Development Process

- Integrate effectively into a multidisciplinary group that includes mechanical engineers, art directors, and product managers and deliver to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Define aspects of form, geometry, aesthetics, mechanical parameters, fit, function, end user interface, and meet defined expectations for product features, cost, manufacturability, and production schedules.
- Uncover problems and develop them into ideas that become design solutions grounded by end user requirements, providing a solid value proposition.

-Lead projects from defining the problem through to final concept review.
- Quickly identify and create appropriate design concepts with follow through to production.
- Follow up with manufacturing and production processes as required.

-Prepare and present new product concepts.

This position will report to the Industrial Design Supervisor - Salsa Cycles

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

QUALIFICATIONS-

- Must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited industrial design program.

-3-5+ years of experience as an Industrial Designer or related position

-Working knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes: Casting, Forging, Welding, Metal Fab, Carbon Fiber and Injection Molding.

-A strong portfolio that demonstrates proficiency in all phases of product development: research, ideation, sketching, concept refinement, prototyping and validation.

-Proven record of delivering strong product designs to market.

-Experience in outdoor sporting goods, transportation or cycling is a major plus, but willingness to learn the industry is expected.

· OTHER RELATED CRITERIA-

o Domestic and International Travel

Ability to travel Internationally and domestically 4 or more times a year which includes flying by plane and driving a motor vehicle. Must possess a valid Passport, a valid US driver’s license and fulfill the requirements of being a QBP Approved Driver.
o Physical Requirements

Ability to perform work on a computer extensively
Ability to perform work on a phone and computer extensively.
Ability and willingness to learn cycling skills to test products.
Ability to work outside in various weather conditions
